The servicing of fire and security systems, together with repairs and maintenance, forms a large part of West London Security’s business. Our experienced and highly-trained service engineers can typically visit four sites in a day, servicing and fixing door entry systems, fire alarms, CCTV systems and more. Our engineers travel all over London and the South East of England. That means a lot of mileage for our fleet of service and maintenance vehicles.
With air pollution becoming a major problem in the capital and London failing to meet air quality targets set by the European Union, we have stepped up our efforts on reducing the effects our company has upon the local environment. Specifically, we are now working towards ISO 14001 Environmental management system accreditation, but we have been working on reducing CO2 emissions from our fleet for over five years.
Increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions means our alarm service and maintenance clients can be assured they are employing a company that is making serious attempts to reduce its environmental impact. One of our first steps towards this was the purchase of 17 Toyota Hybrids. With carbon emissions of just 49g/km (zero when stationary or travelling at less than 18mph) they are ideal for the mainly urban environment in which they operate.
According to Toyota, 34 million tonnes of carbon dioxide has already been removed from the atmosphere with the use Toyota Hybrid vehicles. By the time a Prius reaches 93,000 miles it will have emitted 37% less CO2 than comparable diesel cars. Toyota also estimates that 1.2 billion litres of petrol have been saved when compared to petrol only cars of the same size.
Our alarm service and maintenance charges have not changed since 2012 and one way we are able to do this is by keeping motoring charges down. All of our service fleet is congestion charge free and the new breed of plug in vehicle is also showing large savings on parking charges. We have also just taken delivery of a Nissan all-electric van (watch out for it in central London) and have three more "plug-ins" on the way.
The rapid advances in the electric automotive industry mean that fully-electric is now a viable option. We now have a dedicated charge point installed at our company headquarters in West Dulwich and plan to continue to expand the numbers of electric vehicles in our fleet. So if you are looking for a responsible, NSI Gold approved company that not only has 30+ year’s experience but also cares about the environment you have come to the right place!
