Based in the heart of London, Vauxhall City Farm provides an opportunity for around 45,000 city dwellers each year to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the country. The farm also delivers a range of education, training and therapeutic programmes to support over 5,000 children, young people and adults. Many of these individuals are from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or with disabilities and additional needs. These activities allow them to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence, as well as improve their life chances.
WLS has long been a supporter of the farm. In November 2015, we became a Vauxhall Champion, committing to a regular, annual donation. We have also provided CCTV installation at cost price and continue to take care of the farm’s fire alarm servicing needs. This year, it is the farm’s 40th anniversary, so we wanted to do something extra special to help out.
Jeremy, Victoria, James and Ali will join 36 others taking part in an abseil from the UK’s highest free-fall abseil venue, the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford. As they descend, they will be treated to some of the best views of London available. Let’s hope they take their time and are able to enjoy the experience!
We have set up a Virgin Money Giving fundraising page and invite you to dig deep for a good cause. Our target is £1,600 (+ gift aid). All the money raised will go towards helping support Vauxhall City Farm’s work with disadvantaged children and young people. We hope you will join us in supporting them.
