Our client for this project was a private members’ club hidden away on a quiet mews in London’s upmarket Mayfair area. With a lengthy waiting list and considerable annual membership fees, it’s an exclusive club frequented by hedge fund managers, minor royalty and of course, the occasional serious sportsman.
The Club’s fire alarm systems had developed a fault and was causing regular false alarms, much to the embarrassment of the management. Despite various efforts by the incumbent fire company to fix it, the problems had not been solved.
It was at this point that the club’s maintenance manager contacted West London Security. He asked us to fix the system and put a stop to the unnecessary disturbances.
During the initial inspection however, it was deemed necessary to completely replace the existing fire alarm installation with entirely new fire alarm systems. West London Security suspected that the existing cabling could have been a contributing factor to the false alarms, so the new fire alarm systems could not utilise the existing cabling.
Closing down the club for a long period of time in order to run new cabling was also not an option. The new fire alarm installation needed to be done quickly and efficiently, and with minimum disruption to the everyday running of the club’s facilities. With such a high level of service on offer and sky high membership fees, the clientele were not to be disturbed.
West London Security’s answer was to install a wireless fire alarm system consisting of 40 fire detection devices and a control panel. The system used was manufactured by EMS, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of wireless fire alarm systems based on the South coast.
West London Security have been installing EMS wireless fire alarm systems for many years. Fully compliant with BS5839, they are the perfect solution for situations such as this, where cables must not be seen or are difficult to run.
The entire wireless fire alarm system was installed in just two days, causing no damage whatsoever to the fabric of the building and leaving a delighted client.
The West London Security team worked hard to ensure the Club’s facilities could continue to run smoothly while the work was being done. Although the club wished to remain anonymous, they were more than satisfied with the work carried out and will no doubt consult West London Security for any further work on their fire alarm systems.
