Digital Muliplexers are also known as hard disk recorders or Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). Before they existed, the most common way of recording CCTV video footage was through a multiplexer and time lapse VCR. However, DVRs have a number of significant advantages. - Huge storage capacity – upgradeable on site Clients can take advantage of high-quality colour digital video recording which can be used in both time-lapse and event-driven mode. It also provides variable frame-rate recording per camera up to 25 frames per seconds (fps), with 4, 8, 12 or 16 cameras per base unit. Multiple base units can be stacked to provide virtually unlimited camera channels, which can all be played back through a single screen or through a linked playback workstation (a standard PC).
