The operator is the motorised element that controls the physical movement of the gate, either directly or indirectly. The operator usually controls both the opening and closing movement of the gate and is regulated by variable pressure adjustment to suit each installation. The choice of operator will depend upon the size of the entrance and quantity of open/close cycles. Control devices often include transmitters or key fob readers for regular users and intercoms for visitors. Safety devices usually comprise of underground induction loops or photobeams across the passageway to detect when a person or vehicle is still within the secured area. Gate Ram OperatorA ram operator is used on both inward and outward opening gates. One end of the self contained motor/piston unit is fixed to the gate and the other to the gate pillar. Alternate contraction and extension strokes cause the gate to open or close. Underground OperatorAs the name implies, this operator is fitted beneath the gate and connected to the gate via a horseshoe shaped bracket attached to the bottom rail of the gate. Above Ground OperatorThis operator is located in a secure box, adjacent to the gate allowing easy installation and maintenance. Automatic Slider OperatorSliding gate operators exert a horizontal force on a gate panel that is carried on a set of rollers or wheels, and by the application of that force, cause the gate panel to move. A slide operator is used when there is limited space behind the secured facility, so the gate runs parallel to the fence or wall. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
