Communicators and Monitoring

WLS offer a number of choices when it comes to monitoring an Intruder alarm system. The basic idea of alarm monitoring is simply to inform a key holder that the alarm system has been activated.

RedCare

Alarm calls are sent via BT RedCare to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). The Phone line is monitored 24 hrs a day, This service provides continuous monitoring of a BT telephone line resulting in continuous protection of our customers' property, every second of the day, 365 days a year.

BT RedCARE ISDN allows more information to be delivered more quickly and is capable of transmitting up to 1,000 different alarms or data packets to an Alarm Receiving Centre over the same connection. For example, the system can be set to detect when a window is left open, when the air conditioning has been left on, or when the boiler is overheating.

RedCare is the only fully monitored system to be listed and approved by the Loss Prevention Certification Board.

There are several types of communicator between control panel and BT RedCare.

Digital Communicator

With a digital communicator the alarm system requires an outgoing only telephone line. When the alarm system is triggered, the system picks up the line and dials the ARC.

The central station can identify your system by the unique chip code which is transmitted to the computer by the receiver. This system can only send an alert if the telephone line is working correctly and will not send a remote signal if the telephone line has been tampered with outside the premises.

Dualcom

Dualcom combines a digital communicator with a mobile phone, so that if one signalling path is interrupted, the other takes over. It’s reputation as an advanced, reliable and cost effective signaling device has led to nationwide installations in supermarket chains, high street stores, banks and other vulnerable premises.

DualCom is compatible with any cable telephone network and uses the Vodafone Packet Radio Service (VPRS) to transmit signals within seconds.

Speechdialer

This is the most basic form of Monitoring, if your alarm is activated it will phone several home or mobile phone numbers and alert them to the activation of your alarm system. The Telephone line is not monitored so if the phone line is cut or damaged then no signals can be sent.



BT Redcare Classic

Redcare utilises a dedicated, duplicated network which has never been compromised. So you know that regardless of what happens, be it a line cut, intruder, attack or fire the Alarm Receiving Centre will always know and take the appropriate action.
 
BT Redcare GSM

Redcare GSM combines a secure Redcare landline connection with a GSM radio backup path.
 
DualCom GPRS

DualCom GPRS, from CSL DualCom Limited, is an intruder alarm signalling device that uses both the Vodafone network and your telephone path to transmit intruder and personal attack signals at high speed.
