Biometrics identifies a person via a unique human characteristic - the fingerprint.

Biometric based systems provide the user with the ability to access controlled doors without the use of customary access card/fob. This also removes the risk of access being gained through the use of stolen or forged ID. As a result, biometrics is used on the front doors of thousands of businesses around the world, at the gates to the tarmacs of major airports, and at the entrances of other facilities where the combination of security and convenience are desired.

In the United Kingdom, Her Majesty’s prisons rely on biometrics for movement tracking.  Universities use hand readers for on-campus meal programs, to safeguard access to dormitories and protect their computer centre’s.  Hospitals utilise biometric devices for access control and payroll accuracy. There are biometric systems available today which economically meet the needs of almost any commercial access control application.
